Oh, for god’s sake. Let the protesters blow off some steam. How could this gag possibly hurt ICE? Only a stupid person would walk carelessly down an icy road…

    Oh, wait…

    Oh, no!

QUICK! CALL AN AMBULANCE! THOUSANDS OF LIVES ARE AT RISK!

Listen I hate ICE as much as the next guy but portraying slipping on ice as harmless is dishonest at best. Slipping and falling is very likely to result in hospitalization or death (over a third of the time, according to the CDC)

We can discredit ICE without distorting reality. All distorting reality does is discredit OURSELVES.

I literally don’t care at all what people do to resist ICE. Go buck wild, you won’t hear me complaining. I’m literally just saying that characterizing this as a silly little prank is lying when the intention is obviously to cause real physical harm. I do hope that this doesn’t lead to innocent people getting hurt though. Odds are they just salted it the next day anyway.

Is that 1/3 of all slip and falls, or 1/3 of slip and falls that were reported to the CDC? I ask because, while I do believe one can be seriously injured through slipping and falling on ice, I’ve done so at least 10 times and never reported it to anyone.

Am I just lucky, or is there some bias in which slip-and-falls are reported to the CDC?

Yeah idk where the CDC is getting numbers but that’s bullshit. 99% of ice falls aren’t going to show up in any data because they just get up and move on with their day.

I don’t know, man. I’m not a statistician, I’m just going off what they reported. I thought we all kinda agreed the CDC was one of the last reputable parts of our government.

It’s an obvious public safety risk, seeing as the government takes action to mitigate the risk everywhere it gets icy every single year. Besides that, if we are placing anecdotes above official reporting, I only really know about this danger because my dad had a friend who was young and healthy who died from smacking his head on the sidewalk after slipping on ice.

They haven’t said that slipping is harmless

What they said is that “Only a stupid person would walk carelessly down an icy road…”, implying that it is harmful but people would be careful

and “THOUSANDS OF LIVES ARE AT RISK!” also implies that it is harmful

The joke is first dismissing it as “don’t worry, only a stupid person would be at risk” and then realizing “wait, ICE is stupid people, therefore they are at risk”

You know how sarcasm works right? The comment is obviously downplaying the risk, same as pretty much every other comment on this post. Like damn. If I could have replied to all of the comments here I would have but I chose to reply to this one. I’m not even saying don’t trap the roads, I’m just saying we don’t need to be bullshitting about it online.
