  • What’s crazy is that the morning bell saw gas prices fall 9% from Friday, largely on the expectation that the Iranian response will be more limited than previously expected.

Even after a month long climb, oil topped off at $70/bbl, well below the $100-$120/bbl peaks of the last decade. This is in no small part because of a steady decline in global demand for oil over the same time period. Contractions in the post-industrial economies combined with industrial efficiency gains and green alternative investments have put a soft ceiling on the price of fossil fuels.

More supply disruptions illustrating the unreliable nature of international fossil fuel trade will likely accelerate demand for localized alternatives. And that means more investment in green and nuclear power, particularly in the big industrial consumers of India and China.

  • Agnes Bertrand Sanz of Oxfam said: “There are moments in history where delay and distraction are not neutral, it is a decision.

“While EU ministers continue to debate and defer, entire families in Gaza are being buried under rubble and people are being killed while trying to get food. Every second of delay costs lives.”

The association agreement, which came into force in 2000, underpins a trading relationship worth €68bn (£58bn) between the 27 EU countries and Israel. The bloc is Israel’s largest market, accounting for about a third of its exports.

  • For fucks sake leave Biden alone.

My man had four years to put a very obvious, comically easy to convict, serial murderer behind bars. And he dragged his feet because he thought Trump 2 would be easier to win against than Trump 1.

That’s before you get into the genocides he backed or the pandemic responses he defunded or the insurance reforms he quashed or the fucking Clarence Thomas SCOTUS nomination. Dude should be crucified for that last one alone.

There are so many, many, many reasons to hate Joe Biden. We could be living in a golden new age of peace and prosperity in 2025 and we would still have ample reason to damn that piece of shit to hell for ten lifetimes.

  • I’m torn, because I’ve seen plenty to suggest the democratic process is still chugging along in the states. Let me know when the NJ/VA gubernatorial races are overturned.

At the same time, I’ve seen “Welcomefest” and the liberal doubling down on Palestinian genocide. I’m seeing liberals in Congress line up to support Trump in his Iran War. Liberals are bought into crypto. They’re bought in on school privatization. They’re bought in on defunding Medicaid and SS. They bought in on the deportations and the lawless arrests and the police violence

Too many liberals are supporting Trump in deed, while complaining in name only. How does an election fix that?

  • If the gas price skyrockets they will demand Donald’s head

Maybe. Or maybe they’ll just keep blaming Palestine protesters and other Woke Leftists for doing a domestic terrorism by talking shit about the president.

It took a long long while for the median Americans to come around to Bush being a POS. Conservatives only really turned on him after he left office.

I can easily see our domestic media egging on our paramilitary DHS to do more fascism against the immigrants responsible for inflation. And I can easily imagine a lot of Americans convinced they’re who are to blame.

  • I’m hardly “off the grid”, but I’ve managed to get enough distance between my eyeballs and the fire hose of ads not to see it more than tangentially, while pocking around the Google Play store.

I do pity anyone who doesn’t have the kind of tech-friendly elders willing/able to scrub all the bloatware off their retail devices, though. Had to spent an hour de-contaminating my mom’s new Samsung because of all the random extra adware packed into it. And with newer mainline devices, it feels like a constant struggle. Heaven help anyone on Windows 11.
