The average MAGA has a memory which goes back about 8 days, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the recent distractions have worked well among the base.
Google has either overt or tacit monopolies. They haven’t cared about losing users for years, and by and large, they have been correct that it doesn’t matter. YouTube is so ubiquitous that it may as well be a public utility.
It’s not doable for me to need to use a subscription model for things I used to be able to own.
These companies get billions in funding. Something tells me they could handle a lot of royalty costs.
But if somehow they actually can’t, you better be damn sure we are taking the whole copyright system out – not just carving out exemptions for corporations.

The original one was OK. Not great, but OK. Felt and played like a $40 game. Felt much better for $20 on sale.
This idea that $70 should be the baseline for games is insane on its own. Tbh, some of the most fun games I have played with the best replay values have been sub-$30.

It’s kind of fascinating: the Steam Deck is the only device I can think of with a “halo effect” that doesn’t involve giving a company more money: the ecosystem it pulls you into is an open one, and you don’t even have to have purchased a Deck to jump in based on the idea alone.
