And our nitpicking and low approval of the Democrats is now a key talking point for Republicans. I may be ignorant but I’m not seeing changes in leadership which is why the approval rating is low. We want something locked and loaded and with sure footing by the midterms so that, at minimum, messaging is on point. But so far they haven’t done anything to appeal to people and actually create a platform that energizes people. They need a leftist issue that makes people as irrationally angry as trans girls in high school sports does for MAGAts.

Yeah, not listening to this defeatist garbage. The Democratic party has been changed before. It will be changed again. The party is not defined by some monolithic ideology. We need massive electoral reform in the US to ensure elections are actually fair. First past the post is problematic. House and Senate functions are problematic. We need a solution to the two party problem, but until then, our vehicle is the Democratic party. Best to make it do what we want it to rather than just give up because “they’re corporatists”.

I mean, it was built before, it can be built again. But yes, some consequences are just abject realities that we have to deal with. We’ve lost several trillions in market cap so far simply because of his trade war stunts. He is damaging institutions that Americans depend on. He is ruining our national parks and intends to sell them to the highest bidder. The erosion in trust of our commitments. The damage to scientific progress. The cultural divide as he continues to drive us apart by the day. Yeah, it’s bad.

I don’t think you’re wrong that a Luigi type situation is unlikely to happen. But even Hitler had multiple attempts on his life during his time in power. We can hope. And even if an attempt isn’t made, he’s being chased by nature, too. He is certainly not in good health and doesn’t have much longer. He may be unable to finish his term, although he’d have to be in a coma for that to happen.

We have had industrial accidents and deaths as well… We may have better safety standards but going from no subway system to a massive full city system more robust than Western countries in a fraction of the time is pretty remarkable.

The damage has been done, yes, but we can stop further damage. If MAGA finally turns on him for being a prolific pedo, we can roll the clock back on some of this stuff. I’m afraid they’re going to have to catch him live with his dick in a minor for his base to believe it, though.

Sums up most of MAGA. At this point there are so many conflicting narratives that these people literally have no idea what to believe. They lack the ability to fact check anything or think critically. So in the absence of critical thought, they do the only thing they know which is to parrot the party line and try to fit in with their other MAGAts.

I’m American and completely agree. Europe is in a much better spot to lead than America is. America needs to be shamed.

The MAGA base even admits as much. They say if we change the tax system, the wealthy will just leave. Capitalism is purely about profit and patriotism and national unity are only useful insofar as being a tool to ensure the money keeps flowing in.

If our CEOs and business leaders are supposedly the world’s best, why didn’t they spent their capital shutting China down instead of their lavish lifestyles and payouts for their wealthy stockholders? I guess they aren’t as good at running businesses as they claim to be.

Nah I think it’s fine to rat them out. I don’t get this idea that they can vote to hurt people en masse but it’s verboten to suggest they go through it themselves? And nothing is going to change these people except for being forced to empathize. They’re on the sidelines of a bloodsport cheering ICE on as they destroy lives. When they say this is what they voted for, they voted for the spectacle. They voted to hurt people. Ratting them out to ICE is the least they deserve.
