recursive_recursion@piefed.cato Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why are most religious people so easy to manipulate? (serious)English5·3 days agoThe belief of a higher order being can bring about a sense of peace of mind that someone higher above is watching over you in addition to the belonging that one can find in like-minded crowds/gatherings.
This historical collection of beliefs in combination with any random person calling themselves a priest/bishop/evangelist means that people will follow whomever like sheep because they want that security even if built on fragile scaffolding.
Unfortunately as this system can create a large quantity of easily exploitable people; you’ll see many corrupt governments, corporations, and cults try to replicate this in order to milk people for all their worth even at the expense of literally everything good in the world.

Why haven’t governments outside of US restricted access to Roblox?
It sucks to be a kid whose favorite game is Roblox. At the same time though…maybe other alternatives like Minecraft and VoxeLibre is better as they’re decentralized and more likely to be better moderated (in comparison to Roblox anyways as Roblox is infamous for their numerous poorly made decisions).

I found it easy to meet people and make new friends there plus the oceanic beach view and super fresh air is soooo nice💖
Happy Canada day!🍁
I hope everyone’s able to relax, enjoy some nice weather, and have a good refresh during this much needed break. I don’t know about anyone else but goodness gracious I really needed this.
Anyways I hope everyone’s days and week goes great for you!🍀🤗💖

recursive_recursion@piefed.cato Canada@lemmy.ca•Canadian who died in ICE custody lived a 'simple life,' his lawyer saysEnglish13·26 days agoDan Leising is Johnny Noviello’s (the deceased Canadian cashier and janitor) lawyer.
In 2023, Noviello was convicted of a number of offences — including racketeering and drug trafficking — and had been sentenced to 12 months in prison, according to the ICE release.
Being sentenced to 364 days, he served time in county jail and was out on probation when he was arrested by ICE in May.
Leising says Noviello had not violated the terms of his probation.
Leising described the charges against Noviello as “very, very serious.” He said Noviello had worked as a cashier and did some janitorial work, and had no prior criminal record.
“Is he violent or anybody that you’d be afraid of if you walked by them on the street? Absolutely not,” said Leising.
Noviello’s death comes as ICE agents are making sweeping arrests across the United States.
Stephen Miller, White House deputy chief of staff and the main architect of U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, has pushed ICE to aim for at least 3,000 arrests a day, up from about 650 a day during the first five months of Trump’s second term.
I’m upset and angry as more deaths will undoubtedly follow. This is 2025 and yet innocent people are still being slaughtered.
We are all human. Everyone just wants to live at minimum a decent life.
Why can’t we simply acknowledge that mass deportations, perpetual hate, and attacking others will not make things better. This is not the way.
I cannot describe the unbelievable frustrations that I have deep inside as a systems analyst. 답답하다🇨🇦🇰🇷🖕
Please tell your lived ones to escape if you can. You might’ve already heard and seen others saying the same. This is a repeat of similar tragedies and things will only get worse in the short term and it will most likely be quite some time until things get better again in the Dictatorial States of America.
I feel like I have to disagree with the title and arrangement of the article as these Linux distros have been around for quite a longer time period than Snapdragon X hardware.
At this point I feel that it’s part of the hardware’s manufacturers responsibility to pay and work with the distro developers to get the desired distros working on their new hardware especially since most distros just work on x86_64 laptops nowadays.
