I wholeheartedly believe Democratic leaders from this time period will be remembered through acidic caricature as a way to grapple with the damage that was locked in hundreds of years ago during their lifetime. They will become essentially comedia dell’arte characters used to point out how foolish more modern analogues of them are and to remind people how dangerous it is to rely upon ideologically bankrupt centrist cowards to fight fascism.
