You’re going to see more ICE agents than you’ve ever seen before.

Wouldn’t it be something to see a New Yorker just walk up to an ICE agent and shoot them in the head? It seems to be what they’re trying to provoke. We already have 2 characters from Mario Party.

We have Luigi

Wonder who would be next. Warrio?

Not to mention the vast majority of the rest of America. In movies, if you want to have visual shorthand for “America,” you probably use NYC more often than Washington DC, and certainly more often than any other candidates like LA or Chicago. In real life, we treated the 9/11 attacks on New York as an attack on the United States, and just about collectively forgot that there was also a plane that hit the fucking Pentagon.

As far as the popular collective imagination is concerned, New York City is America. Attack that and see what happens.

And what’s going to happen when they release the files? I’ve never understood this. Is the expectation that they will then be held accountable for their crimes? They won’t. There isn’t some magic head authority person who is going to come in and revoke their power if it’s shown they’re guilty of more crimes

Literally everything the administration does is rape-coded.

“Oh, you don’t want these people in your city harassing your citizens and you’ve gone through the trouble of making laws with intent to enforce to prevent it from happening? Well then we’re just going to do what you don’t like even harder then!

Literally everything is “oh people don’t like it well here’s more of it then since you don’t like it” when it comes to these asshats.

It’s way beyond “the cruelty is the point” by now.

You know, I never looked at it that way, but it’s absolutely true.

These people just think they’re entitled to rape everything and everyone. Literally and figuratively.

Is ICE still gone from Minneapolis? Or, did they pause, wait for the anger to die down, and now they operate with impunity?

They truly did draw down. I don’t know the actual number anymore, but it’s somewhere around 100 - 200. They’re still out here kidnapping people, but the resistance is still ongoing. In fact, the contractor providing fences for the Whipple building is pulling out, so now ICE has no barrier

They should have made the fences with a critical weak point that they leak to resistance groups.

No fence just means the gestapo will look for another contractor.

There are millions of people in NYC, just flood the streets wherever they show up. They will probably be able to run over a few protestors but if thousands are in the street it will slow down even the most murderous goon.

They were never, and still aren’t “gone”. But they have scaled back operations significantly. At their peak, there were 4000 ICE agents in Minneapolis. The most current number I can find is “between 400 and 1000”. So that’s a pretty big change. They’ve reduced their presence by at least 75%, and best case scenario, they’ve reduced it by 90%.

Sounds like a good reduction, but maybe they already achieved their primary objective? What if they’ll go after the same result (incarcerating asylum seekers, legal immigrants, native children with undocumented parents, etc.), but at a slower pace?

I would say their primary objective was not acually deporting people. Their objective was to punish a city and state that was not demonstrating the correct level of submission to the fascist administration.

A slower pace is still an improvement. Is it perfect? No. Is the shit they’re doing still unacceptable? Yes.

If your doctor told you that you had a disease that was gonna kill you in a month, and then after more testing they said you actually have a year left, that would be relatively good news, yes?

Bad things slowing down is a good thing.

So, are you suing there’s an acceptable rate of constitutional violations that can be tolerated? That its okay for the assulum seekers to have the rug pulled, just so long as it is done slowly?
