I won’t get my hopes up to protect against being disappointed. But I sure would like it if he wins.

I don’t live in New York but I really need this guy to win for me to have just a shred of hope for the future. I need something to keep me sane

There are a number of progressive candidates (to varying degrees) on the ballot. Ranked choice is going to play a huge role in this one, I feel.

As someone who lives in the region, the ads are intense… the news loves to point out that these polls don’t represent the majority, and every other poll still shows Cuomo up. I don’t live there, but I still would love to see Mamdani beat that creep. We have given the same people the chance to do something different, and it almost always ends up not going anywhere or they were just bad all around.

Cuomo leads Mamdani 35% to 32% (within the plus or minus 3.4% margin of error)

So yeah you can’t really say that for sure. It feels like these narrow win predictions always end up in a loss.

Or have some hope? And stop this defeatist bullshit? Cuz we won’t escape this rising tide of fascism if we don’t???

You misread their comment. Assume that he will lose if you (a generic eligible voter) do not make the effort to vote. Your vote is necessary. Don’t take comfort in one poll and relax assuming your fellow citizens are going to fix these problems without you. The poll that counts is tomorrow and we can carry one more day of fear if it gets people to the polls.
