Kinda weird not seeing Alyx on there.
I think that list is just for games that will run on the Frame hardware directly, without a PC. Alyx is too beefy for that.
What’s your prices guess? The Index was 1049€ (incl. VAT) here in Germany and that was long before inflation and AI. My guess is it will be 1200€+.
Index also had more hardware with the lighthouses tho.
I am guessing less than 1.5k€.
The Index also didn’t have what’s basically a full ARM device inside, but yeah, I still think anywhere from $1200 to $1500 is most likely.
Frame was originally intended to be cheaper than the Index kit, Quest 3 was $499-$650, so maybe $700-850 depending on storage. Steam Deck got a $300 price hike just recently, so there’s a possibility it could still be closer to a grand than one and a half.
That’s possible, but I believe that Valve employee’s exact wording was something like “we’re trying really hard to beat the original Index price ($999).” To me that reads like beating the Index price wasn’t a guarantee and that if they did beat the Index price, it wasn’t by much, so I’m assuming the pre-RAMpocalypse price was $900 to $1000. The Steam Machine saw a 40% price increase due to the current market. RAM and storage is a lower percentage of the Frame’s hardware, so I think it’ll probably see a 20% to 30% price increase. That gives an approximate range of $1100 to $1300, but I’m guessing on the higher end to either not be surprised or pleasantly surprised. I don’t think they’re factoring in the (heavily subsidized) Quest 3 price much at all.
1499
Honestly, I might be huffing hopium, but I’m holding out some hope for Monday. There’s been a lot of movement for weeks now, shipments to warehouses, drivers being marked as released in SteamDB, games getting marked as Steam Frame Compatible, stuff like this.
Honestly, I expected it to become available right after the Steam Machine reservation process finished, but that was interrupted by the Summer Sale, which wrapped up on Thursday. They say never to release anything on a Friday, so… I’m hoping they’re just waiting until Monday to announce the price and open reservations.
Yep. I ordered a steam machine the second it was available, and I’m counting the seconds till the frame arrives. I’m a bit of a fanboy
They tend to start sales and release products on Tuesdays.
Steam Controller and Steam Machine were both released on Mondays. Most people are expecting the same for Frame.
Funny enough, tuesday is also patch day
Good to know! That’ll extend my copium another 24 hours nicely, if need be. If it doesn’t come out then, I’ll really be back to having no idea when it might drop.
Anyone not wanting to buy Meta Quest 3, is looking to Frame for a stand alone VR gaming option.
All I want is vr at the portability of the meta quest 3 minus Facebook from a company that has earned my truat.
I’m looking to use it for both options. Lighter games I would love to use in standalone mode. Then if I want heavy VR like racing games, I can use my desktop for extra power.
Cant wait to see “This item is not available for purchase in your region”
Poor ICC officials

sadly I don’t see The 7th Guest VR on here, maybe it just needs some testing or a patch
This just lists two games?
And one is portal 2. Maybe it runs great on it, but i cant imagine it will be a pleasant experience.
Soar through the air like an eagle piloting a blimp and itll be autobulimia
I was reading in another thread that apparently with the portal vr mod, its actually a pretty good experience shockingly. I will probably try it as soon as I get a frame.
It shows 5 for me, but hopefully they’re going to be constantly adding more as their testing expands.
Yeah. It shows me Titan Isles, Into Black, Portal 2, The Lab, and Aperture Hand Lab, with the last two being free tech demos. Adding this since it seems like the list may be somewhat location dependent, so those seeing fewer titles can tell what’s missing.
Now if only there was a Frame…
I feel let down as a Valve Index early adopter. 🤷
As an early PS1 adopter I’m sad that sony doesn’t make more ps1 games :(
this but unironically. that would actually be pretty sweet
Huh? Doesn’t the Index still work? Other standalone options exist now that are better in many ways, if that’s your complaint.
I’m also an Index early adopter, but the headset released over 7 years ago. Unfortunately, time marches on.
So… fucking why‽
Why?
They didn’t have the same push behind it like they’re doing now for the Frame and they did for the Deck. Hardware’s only as good as the software it can run.
I’m an Index (and Vive and OG Controller and Link and Deck…) early adopter too, and it helps to remember this is all part of the same effort building on itself. Valve’s hardware division was much less mature in the Index days. Don’t forget that only a few years before, they basically developed all the tech for the Vive themselves, but still needed to partner with HTC for the manufacturing side. I’m glad the new stuff has better push.
Didn’t they release the first new Half Life title in over a decade in coordination with that headset?
What do you mean by push? I thought the software was pretty great. What more did you want or expect?
Why, because you didn’t get something for free?
