The personal passion project of Hollywood A-lister Christian Bale has finally come to fruition, as the Welsh actor cut the ribbon on a children’s foster care village in Palmdale, California.
Called Together California, the facility and the organization which will run it are focused on one key mission Mr. Bale says the state foster system falls short on: keeping siblings together.
hell yeah
HE’S WELSH?!
That is also my biggest take from this. Cool about the orphenage, but you can’t just be secretly welsh like that.
Mae dwsinau ohonyn nhw.
He was born in Wales, but he’s English and they moved to England when he was two. This is his native accent.
yeah there’s no welsh at all in that is there. i had no idea.
He was way too convincing in American Psycho, never saw it coming.
I had this exact reaction about Tom Jones once.
You can hear him in Reign of Fire (great movie) feigning a british accent and it just sounds bizarre when you realise it’s his real accent.
I love that movie, other people I’ve watched it with hated it tho lol
Whenever anyone brings it up, I vaguely remember enjoying it, but otherwise don’t really recall its existence.
I didn’t know Christian Bale was in it. If I wanted to surprise someone with a movie that featured him, I’d come up with Newsies or Equilibrium long before this.
Newsies is great too. I’ll have to check out Equilibrium, haven’t seen that one
I think about the main character (Quinn) a lot. How the world entirely changed for him on that pivotal day he discovered that male dragon, and the decades he spent running and surviving and living in fear of something that he inadvertently set in motion, and then the turning point as an adult as he confronts his fear and wields it to put an end to what he started.
What I like about him, is that he’s not actually that unique – anybody could have woken that dragon, and if Quinn hadn’t been there on that day, one of his mother’s coworkers would have. He’s not particularly heroic as an adult either, opting to hide and scrounge for survival, and openly admitting to everyone that he’s winging it on the leader front. And yet he inspires his community with fierce devotion to keeping them all alive. When he finally goes to confront the dragon, he does it almost alone, inspiring no one with his courage other than himself.
As a character I find him weirdly relatable as someone just coping with heavy trauma the best that they can

Ohhhhh, goooood for you!
Beat me to it 😂
Srsly tho, good for him. And I genuinely hope this is the last headline I read about it.
Is this a reference to the time he pretty much beat up a lighting guy and nobody did anything about it?
Its the time he berated the lighting guy for not doing his job properly, yeah.
Was he out of line for his reaction? Undoubtedly. Was he also right? Probably.
If that is the worst thing he has ever done, he’s a pretty good dude tbh
Dude made one mistake and IIRC Bale’s rant took far longer than it took to rectify the mistake. Also, from what I remember It’s wasn’t just that he was out of line for his reaction, it’s that nobody stopped him during his minutes long tirade.
… so he was right, even if he was also out of line for his reaction.
Turns out no… he was totally in the wrong and dude didn’t even ruin the shot Bale did.
on a positive note you just reminded me of this masterpiece. thank goodness someone backed up the music video.
That’s great. A pity the foster care system isn’t better and individuals need to do what it can’t, but at least they are doing something :)
Exactly. He shouldn’t have to do this, but it’s genuinely good that he is.
