Pain of Salvation’s “The Passing Light of Day”. Fantastic album
Protect the Light (灯を護る) - It’s from Spy x Family Season 3 (Anime)
Its related to the current part of the story: where some of the history of the world is being told, about war and death around one character as the backstory is being revealed, and is contrasted by the fragile happiness of the story’s present, of the kids of the story’s present where there is no war, but the war is seemingly on the brink of happening again. (Its the best I can explain without doing spoilers)
Reminds me of my own story, the sad part of it that is. I’m that character that had a fucked up history. I constantly imagine the other timeline where things were better.
I had sporatic moments of happiness, but its overshadowed by the constant adversity that I faced both within the family and threats from outside including from peers, adults, and even governments.
I constantly try to remember what happiness felt like, its I can’t even remember, all the memories are just conflicts. A graveyard of all the fragments of my innocent soul being shattered by this cruel world. One shard at a time, the soul breaks part by part until the soul of the innocent childhood is destroyed, all that is left is sadness.
This song makes me emotional, makes me grieve about the part of my sould that was destroyed by this world.
Neko Case’s new album is insanely good and I saw her play live last night. The voice of God with red hair.
I just learned that the band Flake is playing near me soon… I stumbled across their stuff when a particular instagram reel went viral a while back and love their sound. Very excited to go to that show, and I am hoping I can convince some friends to come with me since it’s definitely way WAY mellower than my usual stuff lol.
Also in other news I might be going to a goth/darkwave club next month so that will be interesting.
My listening lately has been divided into two categories, gym and k-pop (that sometimes I listen too while working out).
My goto albums for working out are:
For K-pop:
- K-pop Demon Hunters In a non-stop loop
- The girls by Kep1er Just discovered this group
I haven’t added any new (to me) music this week. I’ve just been listening to the last 30 songs in my Liked Songs playlist, for the most part. And some shuffle time as well.
Anti-Flag - Brandenburg Gate (ft. Tim Armstrong)
Syncatto mentioned!! I stumbled across his stuff in 2021 with the album A Place to Breathe and instantly fell in love. I really like the blend of more “traditional” guitar sound with the prog side of things.
