“How many Nobel peace prizes does it take to keep a president from extrajudicially killing Americans?” Obama: “At least 2”

Oh come on now. Obama would never. Obama would say it like this “uhhh… Well, as, a nobel, uhh, prize winner. I can, with confidence, say that, uhhh, it will take uh TWO, at a minimum, hahaha. And remember to sign up for ACA coverage”

Obama approved a program of drone strikes all over the Middle East. Entire weddings were blown up because one terrorist was in attendance. Some drone’pilot’ at an air force base in Nevada would just target the whole wedding venue.

Obama did not deserve that one. Henry fucking Kissinger got one. The Nobel Peace Prize is a joke at best, and a bastardization of the idea mixed with horrific propaganda at worst.

If I remember correctly Obama got it like a couple of weeks into his presidency before having done anything. While continuing a war. So yeah it’s meaningless.

To give a peace price to any president is laughable

He essentially got it for not being Bush.

Not saying Donnie deserves it but we need to stop pretending that Obama getting the prize is some sort of achievement.

Honestly wouldn’t surprise me if the next elected Democrat president got it either.

Honestly, the next Democratic president might actually deserve one if they stop the active fashist takeover of democracy. Even if they do nothing else and continue all current wars etc. Not being Trump could probably save thousands if not millions of lives.

I think the problem is in the value you’re attributing to a reward that is the function of a terrible dead rich guys will.

I’d wager the majority were civilians.

I’ll never understand how you can justify classifying every male about 16 as a combatant. The US was literally invading other nations and killing their kids. Like specifically targeting them in precision strikes.

Yeah I’m not sure how they do that either. I can somewhat understand the fact that the other countries were arming the kids and thus everyone is a threat but there are specific operational guidelines that make it so this is not the case so I agree I don’t understand how that is a thing either besides the operational parameters were not correctly articulated.

            were arming the kids

No no you misunderstand and male that appeared over 16 based on drone footage was considered a target. They didn’t have to be armed. The only crime these kids committed was being outside.

Now how often do you think other people like women and younger children were killed in cold blood and written off as “appeared to be a male over 16”?

Obama has launched more drone strikes than any other Peace-Prize winner in history.

He’s certainly not the most controversial Nobel winner, but his award was embarrassing in the sense that European intelligentsia was congratulating backward America for electing a black President.

You may not agree that this was condescending, but it’s hard to argue that Obama’s legacy is of the peacemaker domestically or internationally.

This, of all the things to be critrical of, isnt it (the drone part).

Less invasive, less troops on the ground, more precise strikes than traditional bombings. Things don’t exisr in a vacuums. Drones were a W.

He’s certainly not the most controversial Nobel winner, but his award was embarrassing in the sense that European intelligentsia was congratulating backward America for electing a black President.

This hints something about you that you think it was him being black and not him not being bush after bush, and being charming.

To be so unwilling to see nuance, that you morphed my opinion into something completely different than what I said, and assumed I fit in your favourite political punching bag box is a problem.

              No. No I did not.

To use only that excerpt and ignore that the primary point was that this was harm reduction vs prior actions is to completely misrepresent the point.

I was clear in that the point was solely about the criticism being in the technology choice, not the foreign policy.
