Well at least we’re great, again.
Buckle up fam. This is a nation of dimwitted dumbfucks. It’s not going to get any better because we’re too stupid to vote for it to get better.
Don’t blame the voters. They’re idiots who are struggling to make ends meet. Blame the people in power who manipulate vulnerable people into doing bad things. The solution to our problem is NOT more citizens without rights.
No, I will blame the voters.
Then you’re a willing member of a country divided, and you let him win.
I refuse to blame a head of a hydra that we created.
Local offices, sure, but really you can blame the gerrymandering and electoral college. Voters just decide the popular vote, nothing more.
On my daily commute, I would normally pass 2 or 3 cars for sale parked out in people’s front yards. Last I counted, that number was 12. More if I were to include other things suddenly for sale, like boats, bikes, and golf carts.
and you mr ceo, dint shut down donations for trump, or some of his followers.
Thank goodness - it’s so much better than it was under the (memory-hole version of) Biden’s economy! Doesn’t everyone else remember that total hellscape?
– many “centrists”, some “leftists” and every single Taco cult member, probably
“My business is a human misery lottery.”
Wow this is a real cookie terror popup crap page closed it immediately

Ah, but they aren’t begging, they’re his “customers.”

Don’t give the capitalists any more bad ideas.
That’s it decided then! RTO for all beggars.
This basically exists, a good number of areas, basically dying strip malls, will convert to a bunch of stalls to record tikoks from, they have props and clothes and such that are either shared or rented, something like that.
I’ve seen videos of those TikTok farms. It’s so much more dystopic than any fiction can come up with.
Well, people have to go to work and can’t stand on the street to beg for enough money to pay for food…. Despite having a job.
Also can’t stand in line for the food bank at 10:00am on a Tuesday for expired milk, potato chips, and nutrient-dense vegetables like… cilantro.

Rent parties are back! Just without the jazz, and food, and booze, and community… But at least it’s monetized for a tech CEO! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rent_party
You should post that to the Wikipedia community.
How are we the best country again?
Cuz the TV has been saying so our entire lives. Duh!!!
capitalist america needed workforce -> tell everyone in the whole world that america is the best place in the world so people move there
How are we the best country again?
It’s a lie that Americans have been telling themselves for a few centuries.
I don’t think we were ever literally the best country, those tend to be the nordics. I believe (and I guess I should do some research) that “the greatest country on earth” was a marketing slogan. Like the local coffee shop that says they have the best coffee in the country or something. It was a very successful marketing campaign considering it’s still being believed and discussed.
Ya but tell that to a MAGA. they’ll lose their fucking mind.
Then tell them Trump has never won an election against a man.
Edit:
TheyThenAlso, that he’s the first president to be openly cucked. We all know his wife is getting it from someone else.
Isn’t Baron actually the old Canadian PM’S kid? Looks a lot like him, and explain trump hatin on him
There really is no best, but maybe at some point we were among the best. Sure as shit not now though.
Yes
Who are they getting money from? Other people who can’t afford groceries? We’re just all buying each other groceries that one of us can afford?
Likely situations where a person will be okay this month so they send another $20 or so and maybe a few months down the line, they are the one that needs a bit of help.
It’s like the proverb, “it takes a village”, only commoditized.
Sounds like socialism to me.
Maybe we need a bigger version, funded by those who won’t miss the money.
But how would they swim if they paid for all our avocado toast?
It’s literally the methodology of…insurance.
I don’t believe that’s how insurance works. They charge people based on perceived risk, not based on how much they can pay
I mean, sure, they also charge for a profit rather than as a social good. My point is just that everyone pooling together resources through regular payments when they don’t need health assistance so that when they do they can pull from it to get the coverage they need is literally the foundation for how insurance works at the abstract and perhaps is a good indicator of why privatized for-profit insurance makes no fucking sense.
Can I just point out that the middleman taking a commission adds no value to this transaction. I can give a neighbor a can of beans directly and anonymously through my neighborhood little free pantry.
When I used GoFundMe a few weeks ago, paying them was optional. It’s possible they were lying but they made it seem like I could pay them as little as I wanted and if I chose 0, all my money would go to the person/org I’m trying to support. I think they defaulted it to 5% but allowed me to choose 0. I honestly think supporting gofundme isn’t a bad idea (they build and maintain software and infrastructure to make donations easy) but in that case I wanted the recipient to get it all.
You are correct but IIRC you have to opt out as their commission is included by default. Found this out after donating, it was easy to go back and undo it
Ah ok. Maybe at one point it was easy to overlook, but it wasn’t for me when I made my recent donation. Good they let you change it.
Anybody else notice a lot of houses for sale recently? Some near me are on the market for a long time.
I used to drive by these two houses in a rural neighborhood which had huge “trump” signs in their front lawns for years.
Both houses recently replaced those signs with “for sale” signs.I had to laugh.
A lot of those Trump signs have disappeared near me
Most of the southeast in the US is in an early housing market collapse. New homes cost less than used inventory, which is a horrible sign. Inventory and time on market are also creeping up.
Supposedly the real estate market is the worst it’s been since 1995. I guess if you are on the buying side, it might be ok. Not sure if recent/upcoming rate cuts will start showing up in mortgage rates…
Hard to believe it’s worse than 2008. BTW 1995 and 2008 are the years I’ve bought houses. Get ready for that dip!
Yes but they are still priced super high. Like everyone realized they could make money by selling their house then Trump wrecked the economy and now no one wants to buy. And, no one wants to lower the price of their home. We’re lucky if they aren’t getting bought up by giant corporations.
I’m not driving between neighborhoods much, but I do see for sale signs here and there. What I notice a lot more, however, are tons of for lease signs in front of business real estate.
Gosh I wonder what we could do about income inequality to fix this.
Would have been fun if he would have said that while at the World Economic Forum.
CollegeHumor CEO series is amazing if you havent seen them.
This is the skit i thought of when i saw the headline.
Mostly the economy is under terrible management since January 20th. It was doing really well before then, now it’s only doing really well for the select few that are part of the oligarchy class thats on good terms with the mobster in charge.
Wy do you feel the economy was doing well when pretty much every metric shows that everyone not making six figures has seen their quality of life drop for the last 4 year?
has seen their quality of life drop for the last 4 year?
i think it’s not just the last 4 years but the last few decades, it’s only that the downward momentum seems to be speeding up recently
Because the economy was objectively recovering and doing better than it is now before January. And we were recovering significantly better than other nations.
This isn’t debatable. It’s supported by hard data.
Add in significant legislation passed by the Biden administration to help Americans and it’s just a simple fact that things were better and now they’re worse.
But that’s what happens when you elect a low IQ felon rapist traitor who has always operated like a mob boss to run our country with a bunch of sycophants who will do whatever the fuck he tells them to.
Stocks were doing well, but most people’s quality of life was objectively decreasing while stocks went up. What about that makes it a “good” economy for the majority of people?
The economy was on a great trajectory thanks to the inflation reduction act, now it’s crashing into the ground. Just check the value of the dollar.
The past 5 years were a struggle everywhere, we just barely got past the effects of COVID on the world economy.
So you didn’t say what metric indicated the economy was doing so well. Do you think the raising costs of housing, the raising cost of food and groceries, skyrocketing car prices, lackluster jobs reports, declining number of people able to afford a $1000 emergency, or the roll back of covid hazard pay were the best indicators of the strength of the economy the last 4 years? Because the economy has been abysmal for all but the wealthy. Pretending otherwise is exactly what got the Democrats obliterated in the general election last year.
