I swore I’d never pay full price for a game charging $70, but a sibling who I don’t get to see very much anymore recently got it and is super excited to play it with me. I figured the extra cost is worth the good memories and bonding.
Replaced a 500GB m.2 with a 4TB so I could comfortably put cachyOs and win11 on the same drive and free up a different drive for whatever.
Cool! How much was it?
$275
Nice
Tea. Its always tea. It’ll be tea again soon.
What’s your favorite?
2021 Camphornought from white2tea. Its like chocolate, wood, and leather.
I’ve been on a big puerh binge.
Honorable mention: 2016 Fade (also from white2tea).
What’s important about year with tea? I find this super intriguing.
Ah these are puerh tea! That means they are fermented. So like other fermented products (wine for example) they change with age.
If you ever want to buy some you should know there are two different types:
Raw (sheng): This came first. This tea is slow aged, and anything younger than 10 years is like a really unique green tea or light oolong. I’ve not had sheng older than 10 years because it gets really expensive.
Ripe (shu/shou): This was made to imitate what 20-30 years aged sheng taste by doing a hot humid quicker fermentation (wet pile). I’d still wait a year or so after these are made because that quick fermentation can leave a funky taste that fades with time.
2021 Camphornought is a ripe. It being 4 years old means it has like no wet pile taste.
2016 Fade is a raw. It taste like a green oolong with a bit of woodyness I love and seem to only find in puerh.
Over 100 bucks on a really high quality flashlight. Actually bought 2, one for work and one to keep in my car.
I got into a pretty rough accident so I bought Metal Gear Solid V again (not on sale), so I could play laying down on my handheld. I figure it cost me $40 for at least 100 hours. Cheaper than a movie but I really shouldn’t be spending $40 right now.
Flight and hotel for Iceland next August for the eclipse.
Not for me, but for my son who just entered a school that hands out a lot of homework, I bought him a desk with adjustable motorized height, so he can turn it into a standing desk if he wants, if he gets fidgety.
A much needed soldering station. It’s not a WS81, but I don’t need that many watts, as I only solder tiny stuff. I still consider a Weller WE1010 a bit of a splurge, though. At least when compared against the shitty one that finally broke a couple of days ago, it’s a massive upgrade.
Sadly, DHL has my package in hold for unknown reasons.
Sony 90mm f/2.8 macro lens
A vintage lava lamp. I’m justifying it in my head because it’s dropped $60 since I first added it to my watchlist.
I moved to an area that has a lot of steep hills, so I splurged on a front hub motor e bike conversion kit for my 18 speed. Now maybe my out of shape self can make it to town and back.
Got me a pair of AirPods Max. Used, refurbished. Fantastic for what I need them for.
Book nooks…
Not that expensive, but pure wasted useless money indeed…
But they are satisfying to build…
A rotring mechanical pencil, i really like having a lot of control and precision when i write. so i thought lets get one that’ll last me a lifetime and more, dont regret it a thing, since my handwriting is legible now
My honey was complaining that the memory foam mattress was too soft, so I ordered a king sized 14" firm one.
Holy hell that thing is heavy and a total pain in the ass to get up stairs.
Now we have to wait 48 hr for the thing to unshrink as it blocks the entire dining area.
