If AI is so dangerous it needs to be immediately banned. The only allowed usage (If any) is research and it is heavily restricted, with heavy oversight from multiple governments. Otherwise its just bullshit

That’s what they want. To cement their market position and continue under government regulation while putting up a regulatory barrier to entry to competition. Their entire business model is predicated on building trillions of dollars worth of compute capacity to provide AI as a service, while the market trajectory appears as though all of the AI demand could be fulfilled with small models running on local hardware.

This is why they are simultaneously destroying the consumer hardware market by hoarding the component supply. If we can afford new devices with local NPU capabilities we won’t need to pay for their services.

Clearly you didn’t understand the word ban in my comment. Not exempted for OpenAI or Anthropic, but banned for everyone. Banned. As in forbidden. No access. For anyone.

Honestly. I don’t even care if the current LLM fears are all hype. We should pass laws anyway making it an unforgivable sin to make any AI smarter than a human being. We’re a species that owes its control of this planet solely to the fact that we’re the most intelligent thing on it. We should not be creating superior intelligences. That is a suicidal act for a species to do. Frankly, if you do something like that? You should hang for it. I think an appropriate label for such a crime would be “treason against mankind.”

This is true but it’s much deeper than that. With the component market captive, it’s about offering all services via the cloud. Every app, every piece of media, every opinion, every trade secret, every financial report: controlled, monitored, removed at-will, but never forgotten.

The most all-encompassing pantopticon ever conceived.

They named the fucking company Palantir for fucks sake!
