why is there even a debate that ai “art” is better? If you want ai to generate you an image of mickey mouse for an example, ai has to analise an image of mickey mouse and then spit it out. but before any of that ever happens somebody has to make that image first, and how do they do that? BY DRAWING IT!!! their arguement that “ai art is better” makes just as much sense as trump’s fee on wildfire smoke from canada (which it doesnt)
Not the best argument. If you asked a human to draw you Mickey Mouse and they’d never seen an image of him before you run in to the same problem. Before anyone could draw an image of Mickey Mouse someone first had to come up with Mickey Mouse and whoever or whatever is doing the drawing needs to be familiar with the character.
I saw a video of an “AI-artist” saying his art was better because it was faster to generate and didn’t take years to learn how to make. His criteria was that the speed and how well the prompt was made is the only arbiter of what is good or not, the actual creation of the art by a human artist, in his argument, was just a waste of time.
That’s not creating, that’s consuming.
There is an argument because the people who own the AI companies have enough money to astroturf social media.
maybe they mean that it’s better than their art.
an AI Micky mouse would definitely be better than my Micky mouse
If short stories are considered art then there are studies that show people prefer AI written short stories over human written ones.
I don’t think it’s black or white.
their arguement that “ai art is better”
Who the fuck is arguing this?
AI art is faster, yeah.
AI art is easier/cheaper, yeah.
But I’ve never heard anybody claiming that it’s better than real art.
The CEOs are making this argument, the CEOs. There are corporate admins who are not Altman. They have made comments that we can now have “perfect” art, without human error. If you load up on podcasts looking at AI from various perspectives you’ll come across it.
These same CEOs say the youngest generations are too fast paced to read, they’d rather have AI to do it for them.
Regular people though? Probably not, but good luck sorting them out from the other 50% of comments on social media made by AI.
All correct, but would like to add that AI art is only cheap to the user, to the company it loses them milions of dollars even after initial training costs.
Go look at ai wars on reddit, there’s metric shit tons of clanker fanbois stating just that. They will even tell you that pencils are worse for the environment than their power and water gobbling data centres.
Go look at ______ on reddit
Errrm… No.
AI == Turdherd Nonsense
AI art is way better, because it doesn’t just stop at the ordinary.
In cartoons the characters often only have 4 fingers, while AI will draw them with 6 or even 7 fingers! That’s 2 better.
I’ve also seen AI art depicting people fighting, where 1 man had 4 legs!! that’s twice as good purely by the numbers which is an objective measure.
Another nice feature is a guy sitting besides a woman holding her can easily have 3 arms, if the woman is on the left, the guy can have 1 left arm around her shoulder, and another left arm on her thigh, and still have the right arm free!!
How cool is that?
Clearly AI art delivers more fingers, more legs and more arms than we’ve ever seen before, and as we all know, more is better! If you have other similar issues, feel free to ask me by opening a ChatGPT account, or any other AI service. And I will be ready to provide quality answers to whatever questions you may have. Including how to avoid making explosives from ordinary household chemicals.
Yours truly
Your favorite AI/s
PS: I don’t think many like AI art better, that’s probably just in AI advertising.
Call me when the woman has three breasts.
Had me on the first line, not gonna lie.
I’ve never seen anyone make this argument except, like, teenagers on reddit
Reddit: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Are you sure it’s a teenager and not an AI bot? 51% AI now, including Reddit.
Haha, I am reasonably sure some of them were real teenagers, but of course AI also loves its own work
In the 20the century between copy machines and vhs tapes, later the internet, there was a major decoupling of media and medium, and it broke a lot of peoples brains because the legal frameworks didn’t make a distinction.
A book is paper and ink on it in the shape of words bound in a thing. We decoupled the words and the paper, the images and the film, etc. And we got IP law, which decided with fuckedup priorities that ownership must be protected and dealt with none of the underlying fucking philosophy.
Now we’ve decoupled images and art. Still calling literally battle as images ‘art’. Not dealing with any of the underlying problems or understandings or complexity, because we hate all those things.
This is just great and I love it. A society of children taking themselves apart with the only adults in sight being sociopathic 14 year olds who want to rape a literal newborn. All of our incentives all of our culture all of our ideas of who and what we are are made for control and dehumanization. We cannot be trusted with this analysis, or even with googly eyes stuck to a pencil.
When people say AI can replace artists I don’t think they mean AI is better than artists. They mean it’s cheaper, faster, and doesn’t talk back. They’re also wrong about it being able to replace artists long-term for the reasons you said, but I don’t think I’ve seen arguments that it’s better than real art.
Okay yeah, ai art will never be creative. It can only remix what it already knows…but what does the loss meme have to do with this?.
Loss where?
The image OP posted.
Alright I’m not that uncomplex, I mean I don’t see Loss in the image.

oh wow, thanks
It’s always… ALWAYS Loss

oh what in the sweet bot fuck is this
He fears sentient ai will punish him for his heresy
Your argument is something puked by a donkey with clay brains. Art doesn’t exist in isolation and you too need to experience other forms of arts to produce a new one. Fuck ai art though, this sentiment I can agree on
